New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy has signed legislation (S-4654/A-5788) that provides a permanent solution to the requirement of publishing public notices online. Starting March 1, 2026, local governments (municipalities, counties, school districts, special districts) will be required to publish their legal notices on their official websites. From January 1 to December 31, 2026, twice a month, the local government would be required to publish a notice in the newspapers (pursuant to P.L. 2024, c. 106) with the link to the municipality’s webpage for official notices.
